Our Team

As the old saying goes “There’s No I in Team,” and at Retirement Specialty Group, it’s never been more evident. Our staff works together to inform prospective clients on retirement options, to help current clients make retirement decisions, and to maintain accounts accurately and confidentially.

A. Aaron Wright | Licensed Agent

Aaron Wright joined the RSG team in 2012.  Following in his dad’s footsteps was not what Aaron had ever expected to do.  His career path was leading him into the engineering field, but after much soul searching and an offer from his dad to join the firm, Aaron knew what God had called him to do.
 
Since his decision, Aaron has never looked back. His sincere desire to help people work towards their financial goals the same way his father has, has helped Aaron play a key role in helping many clients protect their retirement assets from market risks and volatility. Aaron is a licensed insurance agent. He is currently preparing for the Series 65 exam.
 
Aaron and his wife, Crystal, have two children Aaden and Lily Anne. The Wright’s reside in Algood, TN. When not helping retirees create strategies to help preserve their nest eggs, Aaron enjoys Titan’s football and spending time with family.

Bryan Wright | Licensed Insurance Agent

Bryan Wright was born and raised in middle Tennessee. He has traveled the U.S., working commercial construction on military bases, which led him to build his own construction business locally. Bryan is currently preparing for his Series 65 exam.

Through his desire to help people pursue their goals, Bryan made a career change later in his life and began working with RSG. His inspiration lies heavily on his belief in God and family.

Bryan is a graduate of Rhema Bible College and holds a degree in youth pastoral ministries.
He and his wife of 19 years, Lorie, are the parents of three children: Bailee, Maddie and Silas. They make their home in Sparta, Tennessee. Bryan is involved in his church and also coaches his son’s baseball team.

Genelle Thomas | Licensed Insurance Agent

Genelle Thomas has spent all of her life in southern IL in a small, farming community until recently when her and her husband, Rick moved to Fairfield Glade, TN.  Genelle spent her 30+ business career working as an accountant for a CPA firm in St. Louis, MO, and as an Account Executive at a toll processing steel company in her home town of Red Bud, IL.  When the Lord led them to TN, a change in careers was part of His plan as well.  Genelle is a licensed insurance agent and preparing for her Series 65 Exam.

Genelle and her husband Rick have been married for almost 18 years, and blessed with a blended family of four children, and five grandchildren.  

Making memories is one of Genelle's favorite things to do.  Being with family and friends, traveling and nature are top hobbies.  After making memories, Genelle loves preserving them!  Her indoor hobby is album making, and in the last 16 years, she has had the "fun" job of owning a scrapbooking business where she has taught people of all ages how to traditionally and digitally preserve their families memories in albums.

Brian Allen | Lead and Prospect Manager

Brian Allen is the newest member of RSG. Brian is our lead and prospect manager, which is the backbone to helping agents with daily operations. He brings more than 10 years of sales experience with him, with the last four years being in the medical and research field. With his past sales experience, he has learned that relationships, trust and following your clients’ interests are key to helping them with future growth.

Born and raised in Cookeville, Tennessee, he grew up as the youngest of five. Brian celebrated 20 years of marriage to Mary Dee in 2015. They have one son, Jesse, who is 13. They attend church at Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ in Cookeville.

When not working, you will find Brian at the family farm or riding dirt bikes somewhere. Also, as of last year, he has added frequent camping trips with family and friends to his list of interests.

Phyllis Howard | Client Service/Transfer Specialist

Phyllis Howard joined Retirement Specialty Group in March, 2015. With an extensive background in Benefits Administration and Supervision as well as Marketing and Office Management, she brings strong organizational as well as personable skills to the Retirement Specialty Group team.

Phyllis has a strong work ethic and strives to do everything with excellence and integrity in every area of her life. As Operations Manager, Client Service/Transfer Specialist, Phyllis manages and maintains the Back Office of RSG. She is committed to ensuring all client paperwork for each account is completed accurately and in a timely manner, taking special care to maintain confidentiality while meeting client needs. In order to increase her knowledge of the market and to serve Retirement Specialty Group clients more effectively, she is currently pursuing her Life and Securities licensing.

Phyllis was born and raised in Cookeville, Tennessee. She attended Tennessee Tech University and Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Early Childhood Development. She and her husband, Ted, have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. They live in Sparta, Tennessee on a farm where Phyllis helps Ted raise Black Angus/Polled Herford beef cattle and two miniature donkeys.

Phyllis and Ted are active in teaching of the Word at home and abroad. They are extremely committed to their family and have a desire to see everyone meet their potential in life.

When not “working”, Phyllis enjoys hiking, camping, and road trips to anywhere she has never been.

Marsha Halk | Administrative Assistant

Marsha Halk works as our receptionist, assisting in scheduling, general questions or directing you to your appropriate contact. She handles other assorted office duties and projects as needed.

Marsha and her husband of 47 years retired in 2012 and moved from Arizona to Tennessee. She and her husband are members of Hampton’s Crossroad Baptist Church in Cookeville, Tennessee.


Todd H. Pence, IAR | Financial Advisor

Todd Pence , Investment Advisor Representative, has always had a passion for being a trustworthy person who can educate and enable people to understand critically important issues for both day-to-day well-being as well as “bigger picture” situations and relationships. For Todd, serving as a financial advisor with Retirement Specialty Group, Inc. is the perfect way to fulfill this passion and help others find perspective on their lives and gain confidence in their financial future.

Todd graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, fulfilling the calling to religious education he sensed from the age of 12 when he taught adults in Sunday school. Later, to better understand how people learn and form their views of the world and their places in it, he earned his Master of Education in Adult Education from the University of Georgia, Athens.

However, shortly after beginning his religious education, Todd worked in banking to supplement his income and developed an intense curiosity about economics and finance. He borrowed textbooks from the college library and read everything he could find on economic issues and problems. As an Investment Advisor Representative for Retirement Specialty Group, Inc., he is fulfilling his strong desire to help individuals and their families gain understanding and clarity about the financial issues that bring stability and long-term well-being.

Todd spent 18 years in the banking industry and 12 as a religious educator. In addition to his work with RSG, he is a supervisor at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He lives in Dalton, Georgia, with his wife, Caroline, a social work program manager, his two sons, ages 18 and 14, and their best friend Otis – the family dog.
